Do you dream of having those enviable buns of steel? Many of us do. In order to get them, be prepared: it will take a bit of work. Toning your butt means doing the right exercises to target the area. It also requires you to do them regularly! The more you do, the more results you’ll see when you slip on those skinny jeans. Ready to get started? Here are some of the best exercises for a toned butt!
Dumbbell Squats
The best place to start? Squats, squats, and more squats. On their own, squats are a great way to tone your butt, legs, and core. If you really want to target those glutes, though, try a dumbbell squat. How is this different? You’re adding weight to make the move even more challenging. Start off with your feet shoulder-width apart with a set of 5-pound weights in your hands, hanging by your sides. Squat down (think of it like sitting straight down in a chair, creating a 90-degree angle) and squeeze your glutes. Come back up and do the same thing 15 to 20 times. To make this move even more difficult, increase the amount of weight that you’re using or jump into your squatting position.
Single Leg Squats
Thought you were done with squats? Think again! This next butt toning exercise is great because it shakes things up a bit but also tones the back of your rear and lower part of your hips. Stand with your feet together, and then shift your weight to the left leg. Slide your right leg out until it is fully extended. Return back to the starting position and repeat for a total of 30 seconds. Once you are finished that side, do the same thing with the other leg. Your hands should be balled up into fists right under the chin.
The Hip Lift
This next move takes you down to the floor. You may want a yoga mat down so that you are more comfortable as you work. Lie down on your back with your arms at your sides. Your knees should be bent with your feet flat on the floor. From there, all you need to do is lift your hips up off the floor. Your legs will help give you support. Hold this position for a couple of seconds, being sure to squeeze those glutes, and then slowly lower yourself back down to the ground. You’ll want to repeat this move for a minute or two. You can make this move more challenging by having one leg extended as you go.
Toe Taps
Another way to tone your butt is to tap it out. Toe taps are a great way to tone the lower part of your backside, so don’t skip them! Stand up with your fists under your chin. Bring your right foot back, squeezing your glutes the entire time. Then bring your leg back to centre. Do the same thing for 30 seconds and then switch sides. This move is only as effective as you make it, so remember to squeeze, squeeze, squeeze!
It’s not impossible to have a beach ready bum. It just takes a bit of work to get one! With these moves, you won’t have to worry about the summer season. You’ll be ready for even those shortest shorts.
